The MOBO Awards is one of the biggest music awards ceremony in the British Music industry and an internationally recognised brand. We were briefed on the MOBO brand concept which is contemporary and stylish with an element of luxury. The language is professional and funky. We were asked to work with the editorial team and fuse the brand concept and to art direct the magazine.
THE SOLUTION
We developed a flat plan and conceptualised all of the main sections and features. We kept the layout clean and used a lot of space. We used touches of gold in the navigation and silver/grey which was contrasted with sharp greens, pinks and reds. The typography was simple with a fresh edgy typeface for headings. We sourced high quality photography and introduced illustration to add depth.
THE RESULT
One of the best ever issues of the magazine which was loved by MOBO and highly regarded by key figures in the music scene including Ras Kwame (BBC 1Xtra).
